Pispala Sauna Association

The Pispala Sauna Association was established 1989 to cultivate and preserve traditional sauna culture in Pispala, an old working class neighborhood in Tampere.

The Sauna Association runs the sauna and the sauna café and takes care of the buildings and the surroundings. In addition, the association organizes parties and events and participates in sauna-related research and publishing projects.

The association co-operates with other Pispala cultural organizations as well as with all fellow societies promoting traditional sauna culture.

In 2002, the Finnish Environment Institute granted an Environment Award to the Pispala Sauna Association on grounds of protecting valuable cultural environment, ecological efficiency, environmental education and promotion of local community cohesion. We highly appreciate!
